1. Project Plan
(1.1)The Define Phase
(1.11) Introduction:
·   Write a statement describing the overall purpose of the project.
·   What is the key challenge or problem the project is aiming to address?
·   What are students intended to learn from the project?

The purpose of the project is
-          To understand the basic concepts of both plane and three dimensional shapes .
-          To learn the formula of perimeter and area of rectangles and square, lateral surface area, total surface area of cuboid,cube, cylinder.
-          To apply the knowledge in practical situations.









(1.12) Project Scope:
            Describe the scope of your project. This may include class and section, subjects it covers, self shills to be used etc. as well as other factors affecting scope.
The project is planned for class VIII under the topic ‘Mensuration’. It helps the students to understand the need of studying this topic , how to apply the concept in our life situations, to learn the formula of area and volume .

            List the curriculum and standards this project with cover.
1)      Area and perimeter of a rectangle.
2)      Surface area and volume of cuboid.

Lesson 2
2.1 Essential Question:
            Put in writing the question that will engage the students
1)      Find total expenditure for painting the walls of class room, cost of tiling the floor of the class room. Find the area and perimeter of assembly ground. Find the total number of rectangular sheets required to paste on the display board.
2)      Find the total surface area and volume of given solid shapes.

2.2 Grouping Strategy:
            Describe the criteria that will be used to form students team and how this maps to the goals of the project.
The entire class is divided into 6 groups.

GROUP 1.Find the surface area and volume of solid shapes made by the group.

GROUP 2.Find the surface area of the walls of the classroom and find the cost of painting it.

GROUP 3.Find the area of the floor of class room and cost of tiling it.

GROUP 4.Find the area and perimeter of assembly ground.

GROUP 5.Find the area of display board and number of rectangular sheets required to paste on it.

GROUP 6.Prepare powerpoint presentation on this project.

2.3 Learning Environment:
            Describe the learning environment for the project including any classroom adaptation that will be required.
Learn
:- to take the measurements of a cuboid and rectangle field.
:- the formula for finding area and perimeter of a rectangle and the formulae for finding the surface and volume of cuboid .

 The students collect the information like the cost of paint and cloth, labour charge  and stitching charge etc.

Plan Phase
3.1 Work Breakdown, Products and Milestones:
            List the project task and, if possible at this stage include the sub-tasks. For each task add the product that will be created and indicate it will be a milestone.
Take the dimensions of the floor of  class room, walls, display boards and assembly ground.
Calculate the area of four walls,floor,  display boards and assembly ground.
Find the area of the region is to be painted.
Enquire the cost of painting per meter. Find the total expenditure for painting.
Enquire the cost of tile per sq m. Find the total expenditure for tiling.
Find the surface area and volume of the solid shapes.
Prepare the power  point presentation


3.2 Role definition:
            List the roles team members will fulfill in the project.
GROUP 1.Find the surface area and volume of solid shapes made by the group.

3.4 Special Activities Plan:
                List any special activities (e.g. Field trips or guest speakers) including dates.

The Do Phase


(5.1) Project Launch:
                Describe how the project will be launched, including how goals, expectation, rules, procedures, assessment, and grading will be presented to the students.
Introduced the project withcommon instructions. Divided into 6 groups , assigned the work to the group
Objective: to learn the formula of Lateral surface area and total surface area , volume of solid shapes
Expectations: Apply the concept in practical situations

(5.2) Artifacts:
                List artifacts that will be created during the project
Measuring ,calculation of area ,powerpoint presentation etc

(5.3) Culminating product:
                Describe what culminating product or products are expected to be created during the project and how they will be presented.

The Manage Phase


(7.1) Process Management:                                               
                List tasks that will be used to manage the process of conducting the learning
Progressive monitoring

(7.2) Student Preparation:
                Describe how students will be prepared for the project prior to launch. List any specific instruction or tasks that will be needed
Previous knowledge about plane figures, solid figures,  area  and perimeter etc

(7.3)  Facilitation:
                Describe how facilitation of resources will be used to enable the students to be successful.

(7.4) Progress Monitoring:
                Describe how program will be monitored throughout the project.
Meeting once per week   and motivating them to  complete the activity in a befitted manner
